GoMilni.com offers 100% free matrimonials, search, personal messaging, chat and forums for free. Unlike other matrimonials sites which lure users into thinking the site is free, GoMilni.com is completely the opposite.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
The founders at GoMilni.com felt that the Internet is a place for open speech and communication. So why charge users to communicate with eachother. Let's allow them to chat and meet and promote life.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
GoMilni.com is our first web site. It was launched at the end of June 2007.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The term milni means introductions or meeting in Hindu/Punjabi.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
GoMilni.com offers 100% free usage. Everyone is a premium user and everyone has the same access.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Currently, we have no intention of selling the web site. Our goal is to hear back from our users and expand the web site to fit their needs. And hopefully, we can achieve our goal of bringing people together easier.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Our success is measured by how many people actually connect and eventually go on to get married. The site is about open communication and pro life.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
If we had unlimited development budget, we would definitely expand the site and add more hardware and make the site more feature rich.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes, we would then move towards expanding the staff. Currently, GoMilni.com is run and operated in Vancouver by 2 founders.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None so far.
What has been your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge is promoting the site and bringing awareness of it.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
We have advertised is some small Indian community papers and are slowly bringing the awareness up.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site has been operation for about 3 months.
