What inspired you to launch your own website?
Wanted to work from home, grandma raising 3 grandchildren, got melanoma cancer, got better.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
10 years ago, it was a build your own web site thing, kind of like a blog. Most likey still up somewhere....lol
How did you decide on a name for your website?
We had a restaurant called Allens Bayou, I liked the bayou part
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I really am cheaper than other sites, I spend alot of time searching other lingerie stores just to see what they have and how much it cost.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I really would like my store to pay for some really good Ad's, and some employees... I am tired....lol. It's just about there! Sell it "hell no" I have spent more than a year to get it going pretty darn well!!
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
hummmmmm, I hate yahoo pay per click... need I say more? I have spent a lot of time, and even more money, but in the long run, it seems to be a light at the end of that tunnel
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would get a program to redo my whole site done by a pro, submit my site to all the high end paying directories (google, yahoo, msn, etc.)
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Oh yes I can!!! I have adult children...lol
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
when I really did not understand yahoo pay per click and they dinged my bank account over 3,000.00, I had to ask the bank to open another account and paid back all the money plus over draft charges. They were nice about it. Paid it off. They let me keep my new account!
What has been your biggest challenge?
Learning HTML (that's how you spell it right?)
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
funny thing, the small top 100 sites, atom and eve, and some lingerie directory's, and google. Craigs list works when I put ad's in there.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Really started this as a part time job, LOL, those TV ad's lie! This is a full time job, if you really want your site to look good, have great prices, and be all over the net!
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
For over 1 year it's been up and running, I plan on keeping this alive and running even better. I have spent to much time (and $$) to let it go away.
What whould you do with a cool Million?
LOLOLOLOL Really, I would get my own label "Kittys", I spend a lot of time finding places that will make your line of lingerie, same people who make Leg Ave and Forplay, Shirley etc. They did why can't I??
